DONATIONS NEEDED
Dear Members,
One positive that has come from the last 12 months of living with Covid has been the renewed interest people are showing with respect to getting outside, participating in sport and enjoying exercising again. Over the last few months, the Club has experienced a surge in interest in our sailing programs, and in particular from the younger age groups. We are on track to see more youth skiffs participating next spring and with that comes the requirement for additional on water resources.
The safety of its sailors is the number one priority of any sailing club and with the growth in numbers comes a responsibility to ensure sufficient resources are in place to make sailing at Middle Harbour 16s as safe as possible.
With this in mind, the Club Board has determined that we need to invest in an additional rescue boat; one that is suitable to perform as a rescue and coach boat for our growing fleet of 13’ and 16’ skiffs.
Clearly, this is a significant capital purchase for the Club and whilst we have applied to the NSW State Government for financial support, if successful in our request, this would be limited to 50% of the total purchase cost of $40,000.
To assist with completing the procurement of the boat we are seeking the support of our members through tax deductible donations to our Future of Sailing fund. This fund, set up under the auspices of the Australian Sports Foundation, allows members to contribute and receive 100% tax deductibility for donated amounts over $2.00.
The Club greatly appreciates the support of all our social and sailing members. We ask for help by making a donation so that we can seize this opportunity to strengthen our community of teens and young adult sailors to participate in the challenging and rewarding sport of skiff sailing.
